Chef Marcien Rusuriye
Former Head Chef, U.S. Embassy Burundi • New Braunfels, TX
Born and raised in Burundi, Central Africa, Chef Marcien is largely self-taught — and his talent speaks for itself. He served as the Head Chef at the American Embassy in Bujumbura, cooking for seven U.S. Ambassadors and having the honor of preparing meals for Presidents Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter during their African visits.
In December 1999, Chef Marcien and his wife Pascasie arrived in New Braunfels as political refugees — and they never left. In 2005, he proudly became a U.S. Citizen. He founded Neighborhood Gourmet to share his passion for healthy, home-cooked meals with his beloved New Braunfels community.

Browse our weekly rotating menu, place your order before 9:00 AM the day of (or the night before), and pick up your freshly prepared meals at 305 Cross River St, New Braunfels, TX 78130. Pickup is available from Noon to 7pm. You can pay with cash, local check, PayPal, Zelle, or credit/debit card.
Pickup is available from 12:00 PM (Noon) to 7:00 PM. If you need your order before noon, just let Chef Marcien know in advance and he will have it ready on time.
Yes! All dishes are priced for 2 servings. You can order a single serving at half the listed price.
